The American West, Reclaimed

Large-scale portraits hand-built from thousands of recycled aluminum cans. Up close, a field of fragments.  From a distance, something whole.

Why Aluminum

A single-large portrait can hold hundreds of cans - a year's worth of one person's consumption. Something bright and used only once now turned into something bolder and permanent.

Kendall Pace

Kendall Pace builds the icons of the American West - bison, longhorns, horses, the working West - from thousands of aluminum cans most people throw away. Each piece is hand-cut, color sorted, and layered into large-scale portraits that shift as you move toward them: a storm of bright fragments resolving into something whole.
